KIRBY DERBY 5K AND 10K TRAINING PROGRAM

Kirby Derby Training Program begins Tuesday

March 11th 5:30 pm

Monticello Middle School, 2015 E. Washington Street

If you have a desire to walk a 5K, to start running, become a better runner, or if you are interested in meeting fellow runners to help motivate and support your ongoing training, join our 10 week training program designed for everyone from beginning walkers to experienced runners!

Program Details

  • FREE Runner/Walker forum on March 4th, 5:30 pm at Kirby Medical Center
  • Every Tuesday at 5:30 pm from March 11th-May 6th training walks/runs at Monticello Middle School
  • Grand prize drawing at final training session
  • FREE and open to the community

KEEP YOUR VIAL OF LIFE INFORMATION UP-TO-DATE

A Vial of Life Kit contains important medical information about you that may be needed by those responding to an emergency.  It's necessary to keep your information current.  If you have a Vial of Life and need to update your information you may obtain a blank Vial of Life Form by clicking here.

If you do not have a Vial of Life Kit and are interested in obtaining one, please contact Kirby Medical Center at (217) 762-2115.

Events

FREE BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING

The Kirby Auxiliary hosts a FREE Blood Pressure screening every Tuesday in the Promenade at Kirby Medical Center from 9am until 11am.  

It's fast, easy and the best part...it is FREE.  While you are here, why not stop by the Gift Shop where you'll always find new and exciting things in store. 

If you are in need of transportation to Kirby Medical Center for blood pressure screenings (or to donate blood), you may want to consider calling Piatt County Public Transportation (Piattran) at 762-7821.  Registered Seniors may be able to ride for free.  You may call Piattran Monday - Friday from 6AM to 6PM for more details.

 

CONSIDER GIVING BLOOD - A GIFT FOR SOMEONE IN NEED AND SO EASY TO DO!

Mark your calendar with the dates for blood drives held at Kirby Medical Center and co-sponsored by the Kirby Auxiliary and Kirby Medical Center.

The Kirby Auxiliary has been hosting American Red Cross blood drives every eight weeks since 1981. The blood drives at KMC will be held in the classrooms, which are adjacent to the Apple a Day Café.  Anyone needing directions or assistance can ask a helpful guest services member located right inside the front entrance.

Blood Drive Dates for 2014 include:

June 17th

August 19th

October 21st

December 16th

Walk-ins are always welcome!

KIRBY DERBY 5K &10K RUN, 5K RECREATIONAL WALK & KIDS' RACE

Kirby Medical Center presents a 5K & 10K Run, 5K Recreational Walk & Kids' Race (for 10 & under). The race starts and ends at Forest Preserve Park and runs through scenic State Street and downtown Monticello. Race day registration is from 6:30 am to 7:45 am. 5K &10K Run and the 5K Recreational Walk begin at 8:00 am. Online registration available at KirbyHealth.org.

Kids' Race will begin at 10:00 am (after the awards ceremony) at Forest Preserve Park- Sponsored by Heath's John Deere.

 

KIRBY'S KITCHEN - MAY 15th, 2014

Focus on vegetables, whole grains, beans, and seafood during Mediterranean Diet Month in May. Take a culinary adventure and learn about this unique way of eating. Have an opportunity to see food demonstrations, taste some healthy recipes, and gain valuable nutritional information that you will be able to use at home.
