Walking into Kirby and the first smiling face you see is Sheila Carnder.
Sheila has been involved with The Giving Tree for many years.
The Giving Tree has been a tradition here at Kirby for many years. It is where
Piatt County Mental Health Center gives Kirby a list of requests for gifts for clients at the center who
do not have family to share with. The Giving Tree is also for residents
of Piatt County who connect with Faith in Action who have no means or family.
Each request is placed on the Giving Tree as a card or paper ornament and
given a number. The giver selects a card or paper ornament from the tree
and signs the number list at the Welcome Desk with Sheila.
Gifts are purchased, wrapped, identified with the numbered card or ornament
and brought back to Sheila. The names of the recipients remain anonymous
as well as the gift givers.
Kirby employees deliver the gifts to Mental Health and Faith in Action
and wish everyone Happy Holidays! 🎁
