Jordan Barney is the CrossFit KMC Manager. He started out coaching CrossFit
and attending Millikin for Health, Fitness, and Recreation. He wanted
to do something that pertained to healthcare so he could incorporate both!
He has been in CrossFit since November 2013.
His role at CrossFit is to perform day to day tasks including programming,
cleaning, social media, and reaching out to potentially new CrossFit members.
His main task is coaching CrossFit, KMC 30, Endurance, Prep Class, and
Olympic Weightlifting classes. Being a part of the Kirby Team has allowed
him to gain better leadership skills and how to truly care for people
and to make working out the best hour of their day.
"I enjoy being a group of people who all want to get better in some
way. This could be wanting to lose weight or get a new PR in lifting or
specific workout. I am a very social person, so I really enjoy the community/social
aspect of CrossFit. I look forward to members stepping out of their comfort
zones and trying something new."
Jordan's favorite workout: "Anything that involves cardio, gynmastics,
weightlifting all in one workout. I have really come to enjoy gymnastics
and cardio through my CrossFit Career."
"CrossFit humbles me. I have been in the sport long enough to develop
skills in all areas but there is always something to be better at. CrossFit’s
view of general physical preparedness forces us to try things that are new to us. This may be a
high skill gymnastics movement or a high skill weightlifting movement."
CrossFit KMC continues to grow even after three and a half years. Our community
has become closer than ever due to gym socials, competitions, and daily
challenges. CrossFit can be very hard but this gym shows heart everyday
they show up, even when there is burpees because they know the reward
that comes with it. A healthy lifestyle is something that everyone chases
and CrossFit gets us one step closer to that.
