Freaky Facts About the Human Body

With Halloween just around the corner, we're here to share some creepy but fun facts about the human body!

Fact: You Have New Skin Every Month

With your skin being the largest organ in the human body that helps to protect it from harmful germs, bacteria, and other foreign invaders—it only makes sense that your skin cells die and regenerate rather quickly. But did you know that you have a whole new layer of skin about every 27 days?

Fact: Your Heart Pumps 1,900 Gallons of Blood Daily

Your heart is one of your most important organs, working hard every hour of every day to pump oxygenated blood and nutrients throughout the rest of your body. With the average human heart pumping roughly 100,000 times a day, it helps to circulate a little under 2,000 gallons of blood each day. That’s enough blood to fill 42 bathtubs!

Fact: You Breathe Through 1 Nostrol at a Time

If you’ve ever had a stuffy nose, you’ve probably noticed that it seems as though it’s only blocking one nostril at a time. This is because most people only breathe out of one nostril at a time! Typically, your breathing will switch off from one nostril to the other every 4 hours or so due to inflammation.

Fact: Most of Your Bones Are in Your Hands and Feet

While the average adult human body has 206 bones, 106 of them can be found in your hands and feet! Although we use our hands and feet for everyday tasks, they are made us of an intricate network of fragile bones and joints with each hand having 27 bones and each foot having 26.
