Celebrating Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day
Each year in March, healthcare organizations across the country celebrate Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day, part of National Nutrition Month ®. The day recognizes the important role dietitians play in helping people improve their health, manage chronic conditions, and build lifelong healthy habits.
At Kirby Medical Center, our Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) provide expert guidance and compassionate support to patients and community members alike. This year, we’re highlighting our RDNs and sharing what inspired them to pursue careers in dietetics.
Natalie Feriozzi, MS, RDN, LDN, CIEC
Outpatient Clinical Dietitian | Certified ADCES DPP Lifestyle Coach | Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor
“My journey to becoming a Registered Dietitian began at age four, when I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Navigating my own diagnosis while witnessing my brother’s battle with Crohn’s Disease showed me how overwhelming and isolating chronic illness can be, shaping my belief that health is deeply emotional and deeply human. Those early experiences sparked a passion for behavioral healthcare and a commitment to ensuring no one feels alone in their struggle.
With my dad’s encouragement—and inspired by the Dietitian who helped me heal my relationship with food and take ownership of my diabetes management—I discovered Dietetics, a field where compassion, counseling, and nutrition science come together. Becoming a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor brought everything full circle, allowing me to guide individuals in preventing and managing chronic disease while strengthening resilience and self-efficacy.
What once felt like a burden became my purpose—and truly, my superpower.”
Sara E. Eades, MS, RDN, LDN
Director of Nutrition Care | Nutrition Education Specialist | Certified ADCES Lifestyle Coach | Diabetes Educator
“My grandmother, Susie Eades, was my true inspiration for the love of nutrition and responsible for the passion and curiosity I have constantly connecting food with health. As a young person, I witnessed her align her daily nutrition and health between dialysis sessions. She engrained the practice of eating to live and thrive through intelligent food choices that support an active but also balanced lifestyle.
She once held the record for longevity at the Carle Dialysis unit—receiving dialysis three days per week for 27 years! Later in life, when I figured out I didn’t want to pursue medicine, my best friend told me, ‘Be a dietitian, you already are one.’ Thanks Meg.”
