Kirby Medical Center Auxiliary
Piatt County Volunteer & Fundraising Opportunities
The Kirby Auxiliary is a group of more than 200 volunteers dedicated to
supporting Kirby Medical Center. Auxiliary members participate in a variety
of service and fundraising activities.
The Auxiliary operates a gift shop in the promenade of Kirby Medical Center
which offers all types of merchandise. The profits from the gift shop
are donated to the hospital equipment fund each year and have been used
to purchase monitoring equipment, a machine used for processing x-rays,
defibrillators, and much more. Through the efforts of Auxiliary volunteers,
Kirby Medical Center can contain costs and ensure a high level of quality.
At the gift shop, visitors can buy:
- Greeting cards
- Home décor items
- Seasonal decorations
- And more
Fundraising & Volunteer Services
Each year the Kirby Auxiliary provides scholarships of at least $1,000
each to Piatt County students who are pursuing their college education
in a medical field.
Auxiliary members provide free blood pressure screenings each Tuesday morning
at Kirby Medical Center; they also volunteer their time for American Red
Cross blood drives, held every eight weeks. Every month, the Auxiliary
members make more than 125 telephone calls to CareLink clients, to verify
that their emergency call equipment is working properly.
The Auxiliary’s fundraising efforts take on many forms: thrift sales
twice each year, an annual Card Party for members and guests, the Country
Pantry bake sale held each year in concurrence with the Monticello Christmas
Parade, and various product sales and events.
All these activities provide funds for the Auxiliary's annual donation
to the medical center. The Kirby Auxiliary welcomes new members at any
time. Annual dues are $10, payable each June. A lifetime membership is $100.

Shop at Kirby Medical Center for an application or talk to any auxiliary

Thomas Dixon Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships are available to Piatt County students pursuing careers in
health-related fields. Also a resident of Piatt County who has changed
his/her field of study to the health field or who is returning to school
in the health field would be eligible to apply. A student who is in good
standing may reapply annually and may receive the Thomas Dixon Memorial
Scholarship for up to, but not to exceed, three years or six (6) semesters
at an approved institution. Each scholarship will be at least $1,000.
The program first began in 1974 and has afforded hundreds of young people
an opportunity to follow their dreams.
Application deadline for this year's scholarships was April 15, 2017.
