Kirby Medical Center continues to demonstrate leadership in infection prevention
practices, reduce the risk of hospital-acquired infections. Our organization
has added 2 new Diversey® MoonBeam™3 UV disinfection devices
for use in patient rooms and operating rooms. Of course the Covid pandemic
has increased the frequency of clean, it also has increased our usage
of the MoonBeam .
The Diversey® MoonBeam™3, a system that uses powerful ultraviolet
(UV) technology to kill pathogens on high-touch surfaces in patient rooms,
operating rooms, and bathrooms. Designed to be used in conjunction with
regular cleaning and disinfection, MoonBeam™3 provides a new angle
in UVC disinfection. These units have been deployed for X months.
Kirby Medical Center has had strong infection prevention practices. With
the new additions of MoonBeam™ 3, the organization can continue
to improve the quality of the environment of care in our facilities.
Following the cleaning protocol, the rooms are cleaned using the traditional
processes. The staff then deploys MoonBeam for effective and chemical-free
UV light energy to eradicate potential remaining hard-to-kill pathogens such as
C. diff, MRSA, VRE, SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 and more. Its three
adjustable arms allow users to target the UVC dose, taking disinfection
to the next level to improve patient outcomes. It is ultra-portable, fast,
affordable, effective and easy-to-use.
MoonBeam3 also incorporates a number of safety features, including infrared
motion sensors, proximity sensors and a physical accelerometer, and uses
its bright yellow cover as a safety cone that alerts staff and visitors
to the use of the device while also acting as a remote control, starting
the device from outside of the room and automatically stopping the cycle
if entry or motion is detected.
