Get Back to Your Active Life with Physical Therapy

Janette Lawson suffers from IgA nephropathy, an autoimmune disease that affects the kidneys. To qualify for the kidney transplant list, Janette had to pass a test of her physical abilities, including walking a certain distance in a certain amount of time. Over several months, Janette and members of the Kirby therapy team worked together on the physical tasks required. With the help of Kirby’s physical therapists, Janette passed the test.

Janette appreciates Kirby’s local expertise, saying, “The new Therapy and Wellness Center has just magnified my thoughts of what we can do here in Monticello, and I am so thankful to have it here.”

Physical therapy is for all ages. Rehabilitation is simply defined as the process of recovering strength, mobility and function through physical therapy (PT). It can be incredibly effective in restoring a person’s physical capabilities from a range of conditions and injury, no matter how old or young they are.

Rehabilitation may improve quality of life from:

  • Acute injuries from work, burns, car accidents and other incidents
  • Sports injuries
  • Recent orthopedic surgery or other similar treatments
  • Persistent or recurrent joint pain and back pain
  • Other chronic conditions that develop over time and linger, making physical activity difficult

At Kirby Medical Center, we provide complete, quality physical therapy and rehabilitation services to help you get back to your active life as soon as possible, as well as the education you need to keep your hard-earned progress.
