KIRBY MEDICAL CENTER CEO STEVE TENHOUSE NAMED WINNER OF ICAHN PAT SCHOU LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP AWARD
CHAMPAIGN IL— The Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN) honored Steve Tenhouse, Kirby Medical Center CEO with its Pat Schou Legacy of Leadership Award at its Annual Conference held November 3 - 4 at the I-Hotel and Conference Center, Champaign.

Named for former ICAHN CEO Pat Schou, the award recognizes an individual who demonstrates extraordinary contributions to an ICAHN member hospital and a global contribution to rural health.
Steve is an exceptional leader at Kirby Medical Center. He has worked hard to establish and maintain a positive and collaborative culture throughout the organization, and is very engaged in the organization and within the community.
Steve recognizes the potential in people, and works to foster that within the organization, providing everyone opportunities to grow and develop.
He developed a future vision of the hospital that included a new facility on a large plot of land that could accommodate growth, and that change likely saved the hospital from extinction, resuling in exponential growth of services and impact on the community.
Steve serves on a local bank board, is a founding member of the Sangamon Valley CEO high school program, is a past president of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), is involved in Rotary, speaks at American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and other events, and is an active ICAHN leader. He serves as a mentor in ICAHN’s annual Fellowship Program.
Located in Princeton, IL, ICAHN is a network of 60 small, rural hospitals dedicated to strengthening the operations of its member hospitals through collaboration. The organization is composed of Illinois hospitals who have earned critical access hospital designation by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is recognized nationally for its work with rural healthcare, administering several state, federal, and private healthcare programs.
