Meet Kirby's Therapy Team
Tonya Bowrey, OTR/L
Tonya Bowrey, occupational therapist, joins the Kirby therapy team full
time working with 26 yrs of experience. Tonya has worked in areas of hand/
upper extremity/ orthopedic injuries, splint fabrication for pain/ proper
healing, stroke rehab, home care, and geriatric care. "My goal for
patients is to relieve their pain and help them regain functioning to
increase their independence or return to work. I listen to them and work
with them towards their goals for therapy".
Miriam Garrett, MS, PT
Miriam Garrett has been a part of the Kirby Medical Center team of care
providers for more than 20 years and has worked as a physical therapist
for more than 30 years. Dedicated to helping her patients reach their
physical therapy goals, Garrett works with all orthopedics but specializes
in the treatment of women’s health issues as well as cervicogenic
headaches.
Betsy Williams, PT, DPT, Cert. MDT
Betsy Williams is a physical therapist dedicated to creating treatment
plans that improve her patients’ lives. Williams has experience
in a wide variety of settings including acute care, wound care, pediatrics,
home health and outpatient orthopedics. She strives to provide the best
care possible to decrease pain and increase mobility and independence
for members of our community.
Tara Lofrano, COTA/L
Tara Lofrano is a certified occupational therapy assistant with an AAS
from Parkland College in Champaign, IL. She has been practicing for 20-plus
years in treatment areas such as physical disability, neurology, geriatrics,
acute and sub-acute care. Lofrano’s focus of care is to prevent
disability while increasing independence through performance of tasks
that are included in the lives of patients each day.
Mary Martin, PTA
Mary Martin is a physical therapy assistant with more than 30 years’
experience including inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient therapy,
as well as acute care physical therapy, school physical therapy and geriatrics.
Martin is especially focused on geriatrics and is passionately committed
to helping people remain as independent as possible throughout their lives.
Joan Kepley, PTA
Joan Kepley is a physical therapy assistant working to provide physical
therapy services to individuals of all ages with more than 25 years of
experience including inpt, rehab, outpt therapy and working conditioning.
As part of our Kirby team of physical therapy providers, Kepley is dedicated
to individualized treatments that increase patient mobility, reduce pain,
restore function and prevent disability.
Heidi Grieser, MS
Heidi Grieser is the Coordinator of Cardiac Rehab at Kirby Medical Center.
An exercise physiologist who has worked in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation
for 20 years, Grieser’s goal is to educate and assist those who
have suffered a variety of cardiac events. By building exercise programs
tailored to each individual’s needs, she strives to assist patients
to confidently return to their normal activities in a warm and enjoyable
environment.
Fianne Gutierrez
Fianne is a Physical Therapist Assistant that worked with geriatric population
in Skilled Nursing Facility setting for 6yrs. She then found her passion
working in the outpatient clinic here at Kirby in 2018. Fianne is compassionate
and dedicated to our patients in providing appropriate treatment to regain
their functional independence and quality of life.
Jennifer Gibson Smith
Jennifer Gibson Smith is a speech pathologist who has been providing evaluation
and treatment to individuals of all ages for more than 25 years. Jennifer
has gained experience working in a variety of settings including private
practice, public schools, acute, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation
focusing on cognitive, communication, and swallowing disorders. Jennifer
is dedicated to developing innovative treatment strategies to help her
patients meet their speech and language goals.
Kelly Donnelly
Kelly Donnelly is a licensed physical therapist who strives to get patients
back to doing the activities they love to do. She received her doctorate
of physical therapy from Bradley University in Peoria, IL. She has experience
in inpatient rehab, acute care and outpatient therapy working with all
age groups and a variety of orthopedic and neurological conditions. In
her free time, she loves to hike, run, do yoga, and hang out with her dogs.
Shelby Koren, PT, DPT
Shelby Koren is a physical therapist dedicated to providing care for the
whole person. She received her doctorate of physical therapy from Creighton
University in 2014. Throughout her career, Shelby has been working in
small communities with all age ranges and wide range of diagnoses with
emphasis in orthopedics. She is currently working towards her vestibular
and concussion certification to better treat patients experiencing dizziness
and vertigo.
Melissa Litchfield, PT, DPT
Melissa Litchfield, Doctor of Physical Therapy, joined Kirby after several
years of working with the geriatric community. Melissa has always had
a strong passion for geriatrics and addressing balance and functional
impairments to decrease fall risk and improve independence. She also has
a special interest in joint replacement rehabilitation as well as reducing
pain for a variety of orthopedic conditions to allow individuals to return
to a pain-free lifestyle. As a dedicated member of the Kirby team, Melissa
strives to improve the lives of each patient she sees and help them return
to their prior level of function.
