A Clearer Picture of Care
As Kirby Medical Center celebrates 85 years of serving the community, Imaging Services stands as a reflection of how healthcare continues to evolve. Over the past 14 years, the department has experienced significant growth, expanding both the technology available to patients and the range of diagnostic services offered close to home.
Then: Building the Foundation
While diagnostic imaging has long been an important part of patient care at Kirby, the department looked much different just over a decade ago. Patients had access to fewer imaging options, and many specialized diagnostic services required travel outside the community.
Even then, the goal remained the same: providing accurate diagnostics and quality care for local patients.
Now: Advanced Imaging Close to Home
Over the past 14 years, Imaging Services has transformed into a comprehensive, technology-driven diagnostic department.
Key additions have included:
- Nuclear Medicine
- Echocardiography
- Cardiac Stress Imaging
- Vascular Ultrasound
- Fluoroscopy
- Advanced CT Imaging
- 3D Mammography
Access to care has also expanded through Kirby Medical Group locations in Atwood and Cerro Gordo, offering X-Ray, Ultrasound, and EKG services.
Most recently, the department completed a fixed MRI suite designed to provide enhanced comfort while expanding on-site diagnostic capabilities.
Looking Ahead
The future of Imaging Services continues to take shape. Plans are underway to add a second CT scanner and bring Nuclear Medicine services in-house, further enhancing convenience and access for local patients.
As Imaging Director Jaime West shared, "This growth reflects our dedication to innovation and patient care. We're proud of our progress and excited for what's in our future."
Continuing the Legacy
As Kirby celebrates 85 years of caring for the community, Imaging Services continues to build on that legacy through innovation, advanced technology, and a commitment to providing high-quality care close to home.
