High Definition Diagnostic Imaging

Kirby Medical Center has brought the latest imaging services to the people of Monticello and the surrounding areas. We provide High Definition (HD) MRI and Wide Bore MRI full-time Monday- Friday. General Radiography (X-ray). Available 7 days a week/ 24 hours a day. With these powerful diagnostic imaging tools at a medical facility near you, you have access to high-quality diagnostic testing without having to travel to a metropolitan area.

MRI, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, is one of the more advanced and reliable imaging techniques available. Unlike x-ray exams, MRI uses no radiation, opting instead to utilize a combination of radio waves, magnetic fields, and computers to produce detailed images of the body’s internal structures and soft tissue. Shared Medical supplies Kirby with a 1.5 Tesla magnet, which is the standard in MRI technology.

What to Expect During an MRI

An MRI can diagnose a number of health concerns. The clear pictures they create of both bone and soft tissue make them a convenient way to diagnose or rule out health conditions in one diagnostic test. They are currently the best method medical professionals have to diagnose brain tumors.

MRI Exams We Offer

Kirby Medical Center performs high-definition MRI examinations for many parts of the body to help diagnose injuries, disease, and other medical conditions.

Brain

Evaluates headaches, stroke, tumors, neurological disorders, inflammation, and other brain conditions.

Spine

MRI of the cervical (neck), thoracic (mid-back), and lumbar (lower back) spine to evaluate disc herniations, spinal stenosis, nerve compression, arthritis, and other spine disorders.

Bones & Joints

MRI examinations of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle, foot, and other joints to evaluate:

  • Ligament injuries 
  • Tendon tears 
  • Rotator cuff injuries 
  • Meniscus tears 
  • Arthritis 
  • Cartilage damage 
  • Fractures 

Breast MRI

Used for patients with:

  • High risk for breast cancer 
  • Dense breast tissue 
  • Breast implants 
  • Newly diagnosed breast cancer 
  • Additional evaluation after mammography when appropriate 

Abdomen

Evaluates the liver, kidneys, pancreas, spleen, adrenal glands, gallbladder, and other abdominal organs.

Pelvis

Evaluates the uterus, ovaries, prostate, bladder, and other pelvic structures.

Blood Vessels (MR Angiography)

Uses specialized MRI imaging to evaluate blood vessels for aneurysms, narrowing, blockages, and other vascular conditions.
